Three years ago, Jeanette’s three yearly smear test results highlighted “abnormal cells.” Following two six monthly and one annual additional smear tests, it was great to receive the “normal see you in three years” letter today!

Barring any problems, it’s now just an annual mammogram.

Monday 11th January 2010 - Six Monthly Check Up
January 11th, 2010Five years and eight months after her breast surgery, Jeanette has been discharged. At today’s check up, she was told to stop taking her daily medication, and that there would not be anymore January visits to the clinic. Fab.
Wednesday 12th August 2009 - Colposcopy
August 12th, 2009Following the “abnormal cells” smear test results received last month, Jeanette visited QA Hospital. Today’s Consultant had treated her back in December 2007. He remembered Jeanette and immediately put her at ease telling her that the test results were “as bordeline (to normal) as they could get.”
He still recommended a Colposcopy and said that if he needed to, he would take a biopsy - fortunately, he didn’t need to. He said that everything looked fine and that chemo can cause “odd test results.”
So it’s now 6 monthly smear tests - if the next three tests are clear, Jeanette reverts back to a three yearly check.
Jeanette had been diagnosed with mild neutorpaenia last year (following a “health check” blood test). When she was tested some weeks later, her bloods were fine. Apparently, chemo can ‘knock out’ some white blood cells - hence the poor results.
